The Department of Traumatology and Acute Critical Medicine at Osaka University has a tertiary-care emergency center staffed by a full range of specialists. We receive diverse severe cases, requiring a multidisciplinary approach to provide optimal medical care. Our department has an intensive care unit (ICU) dedicated to critically ill and injured patients with emergency admissions, separate from the post-operative ICU for elective operations. Emergency physicians provide continuous intensive care from the initial treatment in the emergency room.
The Department of Traumatology and Acute Critical Medicine actively conducts both clinical and basic research, with the aim of advancing bi-directional research from basic to clinical and from clinical to basic.

- Physician-staffed helicopter
- Physician-staffed ambulance / DMAT vehicle
- CT scanner integrated Emergency Room
- Angiography Room in our department
- In-house laboratory
- Intensive Care Unit with a capacity of 20 beds
